We are excited to offer another year of Silicon Valley Tech Academy summer sessions for our students! The Silicon Valley Tech Academy is an educational program whose mission is to enable middle and high school students to explore and improve skills needed to pursue college level work in the fields of engineering, technology and science.
The Silicon Valley Tech Academy (SVTA) will offer two identical sessions of Tech 1 and one session of Tech 2 all during the same two week time period at Walsh Elementary School. We will also offer a section of Tech 3 Robotics and a section of Tech 3 Python Programming. Tech 3 sessions will be held at San Jose State University.

What Students Will Learn
Tech 1 is a ten-day course for 6th and 7th grade students with themes reflect both current and expected future changes in technology, Space/High Technology, Water and Energy. Both the Water and Energy segments focus attention on the environment, including quality and conservation. Alternative, green sources, conservation and sustainability are subtopics for Energy. Students will participate in a field trip to the Santa Clara County Water Treatment Plant in Alviso.
Tech 2 - Climate Science is a ten-day course for seventh and eighth grade students. It will emphasize ‘learning by doing’ and teamwork in hands-on projects based on the impacts of climate: extreme weather, wildfires and floods. Students will also explore alternative and sustainable energy sources and have a field trip to CalFire in Morgan Hill to learn first-hand about technology used in wildfire suppression. They will also gain better understanding of individual and community action to lower carbon footprints.
Tech 3 - Robotics - Students will have the opportunity to build and program robots.
Tech 3 - Python Programming - Students will create Python-based applications.
Please note that all summer programs are held in-person.
