IMPORTANT INFO re: Course Registration Process for 2021-2022

Sobrato families,

The time for students to request courses for the 2021-2022 school year is here! Can you believe it? Here is some information about our course registration process this year, since it is different than in typical years.

On Thursday, January 7, all 9th-11th graders watched this video starting at the end of 5th period. The video explains the course request process for this year and also provides information about graduation requirements and sample schedules for each grade level. Please confirm with your student that they watched the video and have an idea of what courses they are going to request for next year. The link to this video was also emailed to students this afternoon by Assistant Principal Sarah Guthrie.

Students were also sent this document to view the course offerings at Sobrato, and the district graduation requirements. There are also links to videos created by students and teachers to share information about the courses. The links to the document and video will also be posted to our school website soon for easy access.

Students will join a webinar in Advisory on Monday, January 11 to watch a counselor walk through the steps students must take in Aeries to sign up for classes next year. Ideally, students will start or complete their course requests on Monday during the webinar. A recording of the webinar will be shared with all students and parents in case a student would like to watch it again, or in case they are absent. Student course requests should be completed in Aeries by Friday, January 22. Counselors will be checking course requests throughout that two-week span to confirm course requests are correct for each student.

January 28 is Course Information Night, and students and families can join to watch presentations about graduation requirements, AP courses, and a student life panel. Our academic and electives departments will be available via live Zoom meetings to answer parent and student questions, as will our athletics director and registrar. We invite all Sobrato families, as well as incoming 9th grade families to attend! Please save the date! More details to come.

If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your student’s counselor or assistant principal:
