Hello from the Library!

Hey Bulldogs,

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Stephanie Curley and I will be your new librarian.  I'm so excited to be doing it here at Sobrato High School.

I have had the opportunity to meet a few of the students here and all have made me feel so welcome.  I hope more of you stop by to introduce yourself so I can start to get to know everyone.  Please bare with me as I try to learn everyone's name...there are a lot of Bulldogs in the house!

Moving forward, I wanted to take a moment to share with you my expectations for the library so we are all on the same page.

1. Apparently the library is a hot spot (which I love) but we easily go over the safety capacity which is a violation of the fire code. Therefore, once all the chairs are spoken for, the doors of the library will be closed.  Students will be admitted one at a time as other students leave.

2.  Students are welcome to come in for brunch and lunch to eat. Please make sure to clean up after yourself.  If you spill food, clean it up please.  If your table is sticky, please come and get a wipe from me.  Food and books don't always go together, so I am counting on you to help me keep our library clean and hopefully we won't attract any bugs. I hate for anyone to lose the privilege of eating in the library.

3.  Regarding chairs, please push them in when you leave.  If you borrow a chair from another table, please put it back before you leave.

4. As you all know, libraries are usually a quiet space. I'm fine with conversation during Brunch and Lunch, but no yelling please.

5. If you have the Tutorial sticker on Minga, you are welcome to come into the library.  Please make sure that you sign in and check in with me as well.

6. If you happen to damage a book with normal "wear-and-tear", please just let me know so I can repair the book.  If the book can not be repaired (i.e. water damage, food, dog chewed it up) then you will be charged for the book. Please do not bring a replacement book from the store.  Regular books are bound differently than library books which is why library books are more expensive.

7. If there is a book title that you wish to see in the library please let me know.  I will be starting a "Wish List" for ordering.

Lastly, we have a lot of new books here in the library.  I would love some help reading them and writing a review for your peers.  The front table is now loaded and more will be coming!

Happy Reading!
Ms. Curley
