Course Information Night

January 27, 2022

Welcome to our virtual Course Information Night! This document includes links to important information and a variety of resources about the course registration process for the 2022-23 school year.  Our staff is looking forward to another year of exciting course offerings and academic excellence from our students. In 2021, U.S. News & World Report ranked Sobrato among the top 7.5% of high schools in California and the United States.  Inside and outside of the classroom, we expect our students to “Do Good, Be GREAT” (Gritty, Responsible, Engaged, Accountable, and Thoughtful of others). For more information about Sobrato’s history and culture, click here.

Where to start?

A good place to start this process is by reviewing MHUSD’s graduation requirements and college eligibility criteria. These videos are from last year’s Course Information Night, and they are still accurate today:

●       Video in English

●       Video in Spanish

●       Document with all requirements

Next, we recommend that you check out the videos in the Sobrato Department Information section to learn more about the courses offered in each department.

Then, you can go to the MHUSD Course Registration Resource to learn more about specific courses you or your student may be interested in requesting. This document includes links to videos about elective and AP courses, sample schedules for all grade levels, as well as helpful links for how to navigate the Academic Plan in Aeries.

For more information about student life at Sobrato, please also check out these videos with information from our students:

Counselors have been meeting one-on-one with our rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders over the past two months to help students select classes for next school year. If you are a current Sobrato student, and after reviewing the information in this document, you would like to make a change in your academic plan in Aeries, please contact their counselor using this form:  Click here to submit a question to your counselor

Counselors will also be hosting Zoom meetings with all of the middle schools to work with our rising 9th graders to select classes for next year:

●       Murphy: Feb 7, 9:00 (1st period)

●       Britton: Feb. 7, 1:15 (5th period)
